Shop Small Holiday Challenge 2020

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

Welcome to the Shop Small Holiday Challenge!

One of the really wonderful things about owning a small business, especially in the creative space, is meeting other entrepreneurs, creators, and artists. If you haven't been here long, my husband and I own a media production company, Integrity Productions. He's pretty amazing at creating stunning videos (no I'm not biased), and I help keep the business side running smoothly. Get sucked into the rabbit hole of his gorgeous video gallery HERE!

There are many high points to being a small biz owner, but there can be a lot of uncertainty too, especially in the early years. 2020 and the Covid-19 pandemic have affected small business owners in very real ways, some more than others. I read somewhere that over 100,000 small businesses have had to close permanently due to the pandemic, including one of our favorite restaurants.

As a fun challenge for myself, I have decided to shop small for Christmas gifts as much as possible this year, instead of my usual Amazon Prime hauls. There's nothing wrong with large retailers, but lately, I have been pondering the value of one-of-a-kind gifts more. Bonus? I'm pretty sure Amazon employees don't do a little jig when they see my order come through, but a small business owner? You can bet on it!

To get your shopping spree started, here are some of my favorite small businesses!

The Daily Grace Co.

I share about them often, but this is a great one-stop-shop for theologically-sound resources, board books, journals, and home decor. *I earn a small commission when you purchase through my link!*

The Joyful Life Magazine

I'm a contributing writer! Beautiful quarterly magazine full of "heart and home inspiration for Christian women." Gift a subscription or shop their other products and books!

Rachel Allene

I drink my morning coffee out of Rachel's "Morning Sunshine" mug and love following her life as a creativepreneur mama with two littles on Instagram! Support her by shopping her sweet collection!

Primally Pure

My favorite skincare routine. Use code CAROLINE10 and get 10% off! Later this week I'll have a 25% code for you along with their holiday line launch! Everything from daily essentials to luxury face masks and candles. *I earn a small commission when you purchase through my link*

320 Sycamore Candle Co.

Haven't tried her candles personally yet but my friends rave about them! Hand-poured soy candles by Jen! Her scents are so unique and yummy! Caramel Pumpkin, Evergreen and Berries, or Nutmeg and Spice, anyone?

Par La Grâce

Longtime real-life friends! Jessica's wooden signs are all over my house, and lately, her business is branching out into other exciting products! Get lost in her cute home decor and blog here... watch out, it's dangerous.

Grace Laced Co.

Ruth Chou Simons is one of my favorite voices to read and listen to, but she is also an amazing artist. Her shoppe is full of beauty, practicality, and inspiration. Plus, she is running some AMAZING Black Friday sales!

Loyal Stricklin

For the guys in your life! Daniel loves their unique mugs and leather products!

Tea Spot

A dear friend sent me a box of their tea in the early days of the pandemic when I was weeks away from giving birth, and I was hooked! Try the chai or Boulder Blues!

Answers in Genesis

Okay, they're not exactly small, but they are a business I believe in. Shop incredible educational and faith-based resources for kids and adults in your life! (There will always, always be a book plug here!)

A few bonus shops I love following on Instagram:

Little Things Studio For the hymn lover in your life! I adore her shop!

White Hearth Pottery Perfectly imperfect pottery based out of Virginia and drop. dead. gorgeous.

Promptly Journals Gratitude journals, couple's journals, and baby books reimagined

Korie Herold (Her heirloom memory books are priceless!)

Lindsey La Valle Art (I want all of her pottery pieces, like now.)
